Secure Parking

Cleveland’s once gilded age of unchecked wealth and enormous growth, struggles with urban sprawl and disjointed neighborhoods. Iconic parking structures perch on steel beams embedded into bluestone rock. This rock, a foothill of the Appalachian Mountain Range suggests the original presence of this ancient natural environment. This work draws from visual language already extant in places like Dresden, Germany and Tijuana, Mexico-- color, architecture, texture and pattern. Borders, such as the wall between Mexico and the United States, are arbitrary rather than natural.
